End started today

12 years ago, deadliest war Europe saw since WWII, was coming to an end as a result of operation Storm (wikipedia). Today is our Thanksgiving day during which we remember all those killed and wounded during this war. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

  • What have posts glorifying the croatian war crimes have to do in Planet Ubuntu?

Of course, you are free to celebrate the wars you like, but be honest and leave Planet Ubuntu. Thanks.

  • blah, what a ridiculous and biased post! a more then clear misuse
of the Planet Ubuntu for a cheap political PR...

  • Who are you anonymous people saying what people should or shouldn't post on their own blogs?

If a planet carries it and you don't like it, why not start you own planet. It could be dedicated to the work you do for free software, with a few carefully selected others. Instead you come on and are secretly/ covertly snide.

  • I don't know how this planet works, but on the french one only Ubuntu-classified posts are visible on the planet. I guess that's how it should work, and I also feel that such posts should not be published on planet Ubuntu.

  • Francois. So don't look then.

    What's the problem?

George (nothing to do with this blog, or planet.ubuntu, but who wonders why others dare tell people what to put on plates they are part of)

  • Planet will use whatever feed you give it. Many people would appreciate it if posts which made it to the Ubuntu planet were at least somewhat Ubuntu/Linux/FOSS related. This is a debate which is destined to keep coming up - and the official policy pointedly does not take a stand.

If you would like to be able to post only a subset of what is on your blog, you only need to add an Ubuntu category, and provide the planet with the feed for that category. Here's a link about how to do category level feeds in Blogger.

That's entirely your choice, but it would be a courtesy to the Ubuntu community.

  • Anonymous guys, I'm sorry if I offended you, but I'm celebrating the day when war was coming to an end, not the day when it started. Do you consider your holidays as a political PR?

@francois, Alex: In the future, I'll categorize posts and put only relevant post on planets. Thanks for the link.

  • Thank you for your comprehension Ante.

As Alex said, I read planet Ubuntu to find news related to Ubuntu or Linux in general. Of course it's not a problem if sometimes there are unrelated posts but it would be kind to publish only relevant posts on the planet. Thanks again!
