...advanced dreams

Amazing!!

On 2006/05/05 we started a PPP project. The goal of that project was translating some often used programs. Both Senko and I didn't think big about that. Some calculations said that we could do 5000 to 10000 lines max (if we get 5 people to do 100 lines/day). But, something strange happend... We got to 5000 very quickly, then there was 10000, then 15000 and finally, the number stoped at 18000 lines. This doesn't include changes we did in previous translations. This also doesn't include Senko's translation of firefox. So, I think we can say we translated 20000 lines. Included are gaim, ekiga, evolution, desktopguide, firefox, ubiquity, pan, gnome-panel, nautilus, gnome-applets, gnome-power-manager, gnome-terminal, gparted... Full list is, of course, at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/dapper/+lang/hr. But that's not even all. We imported myspell-hr, making OpenOffice.org fully translated and armed (with spell checker) for Croatian users (thank you pitti for all the help with this one). All of this happend in 14 days.

But, IMHO, the biggest achievement was - creation of community. Energy and passion that was around us in these two weeks was unbelivable. So many people working on same goal, continuing where others before him stoped, translating sstuff like evolution or gaim in just 2-3 days. Something words can't describe. But, we aren't going to stop. Rocks are rolling, and we'll be there for Edgy too! We won't stop untill every granny over 80, speaking only Croatian language, can use Ubuntu and enjoy it as much as we do.

Big thanks to whole Ubuntu community and to all Ubuntu developers too. I'm honored to be a member of you. Dapper is really looking great...
