Going commercial!

I work for a company that provides Linux based solutions. Solutions like e-mail servers, http server, backup solutions, large file servers (couple of TB), gateways... Almost everything you can think of!

From today, on our bills, instead of "Linux installation", there is "Ubuntu Linux installation". With the release of Breezy, we will provide only Ubuntu servers.

We were deploying SuSE and Debian till now, but after few pilot projects, choice was made. Ubuntu and nothing else. We even made first Ubuntu desktop installation for my boss. That wouldn't be much of a news, but we are talking about Big Mac fanatic :)

Ubuntu - what's up with that?!

Lots of geeks are talking about it. But, what's more interesting, lots of no-geeks are talking about it. So, what is it? Is it good?

Did you ever get that feeling that something is... Hm, just right? Did you ever try some shooes or a t-shirt and said "That's it!"? You know that feeling, when you are so darn happy. Well, like those shooes for your feet, Ubuntu is just right for your computer. No, stop! Don't go away! This isn't one of those geeky talks. I'm not going to compare it to some other programs or something. I just want to share my satisfaction with you. People, this is great. This little CD can make you so happy about your self that you will wonder why didn't this happend sooner. It's not flawless, it's not ideal, but it's perfect! I will not give you links to it, I will not tell you to use it. I am happy with my laptop runing Ubuntu and if you want to try it, you will find it on the Internet.

Friday!

Who was on Adriatic sea this summer? Please, raise your hand.

I'm waiting...

Allright. No one.

Let me tell you what was wheater like. We had pretty much sunny July, but in July most of people are still working. So, that leaves us August. August was one rainy day after another. We had so bad weather that some turstis went back home. We are talking about people who did few thousands kilometers to be on a sunny beach. But no, weather killed that spirit. Just to make sure all turists go home, weather played a litlle sick game called - twister. Island called Murter was hit by this wicked sense of humor. Wind was so strong that it lift 2 tons heavy store and throw it 20 meters away. With a girl inside it. Watermelons, fruit that never leaves dirt, finally end up in air, with all "regular" fruit - they got air borned :). While this all was funny and a bit dangerous (imagine your self instead of that girl in store), costs was big. Lots of houses got flooded by rain, people in panic were trying to find their kids (this storm happend in 5 minutes, out of the sunny day) and some roofs were damaged. Now, picture this. Twister vent right trough autocamp! I mean, they have rough time without nasty weather. But, this? Guess how many of them found their tent after searching all over the hill. I can imagine those Checzs... You know, they allways bring everthing on the beach. They even pump those litlle gizmo toys at home and cary them to beach. Now, all that was flying away from them. By the way, Checzs on Adriatic sea is another stroy which I might tell you one time.

So, why am I takling to you all this? Cause today, 16. of September is freaking HOT! Why now?! I have to study for exams nad there is no could in sky. WHY?! Why wasn't weather like this in August? :/

Summer is over :(

I have some great photos from vacation this summer. Photo album can be found at:

http://www.grad.hr/~ivoks/summer2005

To help you with orientation, pictures from 1 to 7 are taken on a highway Zagreb - Split and road Split - Dubrovnik. Pictures from 8 to 82 are taken only in Dubrovnik. Next 6 photos are from Konavli, and then it's Dubrovnik again with 3 photos. Few photos on the ship while we were going to Mljet. Then Dubrovnik again... Boring, isn't it? :) 121 till 139 are photos of Murter island (starting point for Kornati - biggest archipelago on Meditteranian see). Last pictures are pictures of small place called Skradin and river Krka.

If you don't know it, all this places are in little country called Croatia.

Hell of a day on uni

So... One more day. One more exam.

I was awake whole night, trying to catch up with some problems before my exam at 9AM. Hell! People, don't do that. Best thing you can do after nights like that is - stay alive. I didn't do well on exam. Acctually, it was disaster! Now I'll have three exams in same day. I'm so angry on my self that I won't even finish this blog.

Sitting in front computer, trying to finally make headless Ubuntu installation on 60 computers.
